Here's a big one folx. Just wrapped up work on a piece in #georgetown in partnership with @electriccelloseattle . The space is still having the seating area built out but here's a peek at the 40 foot #mural. It was a long, hot weekend of painting, but I'm really stoked on how it's turned out. I hope when you're boppin around the community you'll take a seat and take a look at these ants.

The paint must not have been fully dry before it got tagged. Thanks guys, looks much better now. I try not to be too down on tagging, everyone wants to be heard in their own way. But seriously, Roe got overturned yesterday and I busted to get this piece designed and painted. I started at 9am and finished at 11:30pm. This shit ain't easy. I didn't even get a daylight photo of it to capture the moment. While the world burns, why ya gotta throw gasoline on it?

I don't typically talk about the origins of design

I don't typically talk about the origins of designs but I was thinking a lot of this one in lieu of recent events. I have a little unofficial list of "will not use" imagery, which for a while included guns. But after a school shooting several years ago, I made this design to reconcile my feelings. Here's the thing tho, I no longer remember which one. That's where we're at now. A school shooting is no longer a significant enough milestone in our history to form a sense of scale around. As years, months, and sometimes even weeks or days go by, you have to ask "which one"? The ape in this design is a juvenile orangutan, barely able to hold the AR-15 rifle used in so many tragedies in this country. I'll let you all interpret the rest.

About ten years ago I was passing thru the Houston airport and there were posters of a young child from some ambiguous Eastern country. She had big eyes, simple clothes, and was alone. The poster's headline copy read "she's not as innocent as she looks, report suspicious behavior". I've never forgotten that poster and I'm sure the thousands of families traveling thru this point of entry haven't either.

I love seeing parks get used to their fullest by a community, and tho my skating days are well behind me, I really admire seeing this park full of skaters every day, of all skills, being 🤙
