In September of 2020, on the back of a summer filled with protests and political unrest, I was asked to participate in a live mural painting at the 50th Anniversary Memorial for Jimi Hendrix, co-sponsored with Leon and Tina Hendrix. Along with several other community artists, I painted the mural during live musical performances following a march for equity.

The design shows Hendrix in front of an audio waveform of a riff from his song “Machine Gun”, with a Vietnam era rifle removed from it. Hendrix is draped in an American flag while flashing a sideways peace symbol and holding a peace lily.
